About Us
Crazy Canadian Leather was established in Tokyo, Japan, in 2000. It started as a hobby and interest in leathercraft. After a year of learning the basics from some close friends and makers, I started selling my goods in a flea market in Inokashira Park. Eventually, I began to make a name for myself as the “Crazy Canadian,” and portrait artist and friend, Mr. Takahashi, created a logo for me. Soon, I started making contacts with local shop owners around Kichijoji, Shibuya, Ueno and Shimokitazawa, and they started carrying my leather goods in their stores.
In 2008, I moved back to Toronto, Canada, with my family, and re-launched my business here. We’ve had some ups and downs getting re-settled. Still, things are looking better, including our new and improved logo. In 2015, My Brother Jamie joined as a partner, and our father, Will, also helps us out with product ideas, research and buying, making Crazy Canadian indeed a family business. Starting in 2016, we began to change our primary market focus from Western and Native inspired to a new direction. Cosplay Costume Design and replicas! In 2017, we started attending more Fan Conventions like Toronto ComiCon, FanExpo Toronto and any other events we can get to help Cosplayers create new pieces for their unique costumes. In 2019, we began to add "Fan Art" pieces including Tooled and Painted art. In 2020 we added a Laser Engraver to our maker space opening up more possibilities.
